-
Design for Manufacturability and Assembly (DFMA) is an approach that focuses on optimizing product designs to simplify manufacturing processes and reduce production costs.
At NOVL, we have deep experience in designing for many different types of manufacturing processes, as well as selecting the right process based on volume, lead time, performance and cost.
-
Design for Additive Manufacturing (DfAM) is a specialized approach that focuses on creating product designs optimized for the capabilities and constraints of additive manufacturing technologies, such as 3D printing.
At NOVL we have extensive experience in DfAM and a robust supplier network to get your AM part designed and made. Learn more here.
-
Generative design, optimisation, and light-weighting (each of which are different methods) are approaches that leverage advanced algorithms and simulations to create efficient, high-performing structures or systems by iteratively exploring design possibilities, optimizing for specific criteria, and minimizing material usage for enhanced sustainability.
At NOVL, we have some of the pioneering experts in these areas capable of taking your designs to the next level.
-
Reverse engineering, which typically involves 3D scanning and CAD reconstruction, is the process by which physical objects are digitally captured through advanced scanning technology and then recreated in CAD software, enabling precise replication, analysis and modification.
We have capabilities to take just about any part (even broken ones!) and reproduce them better than OEM.
-
Finite Element Analysis (FEA) is a computational technique used to simulate and analyse the behaviour of complex structures under different loading conditions by discretising them into finite elements, offering detailed insights into stress distribution, deformation, and overall structural performance.
At NOVL, we have capabilities in CFD and FEA including static and dynamic analysis, non-linear analysis and explicit dynamics.
-
While digital designs can be comprehensively analysed using advanced methods, the most accurate predictor of performance is physical.
At NOVL we can design test rigs to perform structural stress or failure tests, generate material data to arrive at the best performing design.
